Favorite Memories – 2009

December 15, 2009

Like this sunset, the year of 2009 is also slowly (or sometimes, quickly) setting and it’s hard to believe that 2010 is just around the corner.  Of course, this starts one thinking about all that has happened in this past year, which is a fair bit. Some of it is good, some of it is not so good, but all of it is part of life and it is shaping me into the person I am and the person I want to be. It’s like sand and water polishing a stone on a river bed, working away the rough edges and bringing out the hidden veins of colour and beauty.

Some of my favorite memories and moments from this year are:

-Rediscovering film and Polaroid photography. After 5-6 years of not having touched a film camera, it’s a joy to be back into that and it’s a joy that I hope to continue expanding upon.

-Working with M. on our little garden pots and growing our own herbs. The joy of then harvesting those herbs to use in cooking and knowing that we grew them.

-Finishing “War and Peace”, which is something I’ve wanted to do for a while.

-Spending Sunday’s in summer wandering around the Vancouver Car Free Days.

-Watching Doctor Who with M. and kitty all snuggled on the couch.

-trying (and loving) macarons for the first time

-Celebrating 3 years with M. by making a fort in our livingroom and watching movies all day.

-Traveling to the island to visit M’s family.

-Any and all time spent with friends.

How about you? Any favorite memories of the past year?
